What kind of clothes go into each box?
Clothes should be like new. No stains, pilling, tears, missing buttons, broken zippers or names written on tags.
Specific items such as: Shoes, no scuffs and sould be very new looking; bathing suits, very new looking - no pulls, fading; Pajamas are OK. Hair bows must be barely worn and match outfit.
Clothes should be within 2 sizes (ex: 6months-9months).
Can I pick as many boxes as I want?
When listing your clothes write a great description so people will choose your box. You must list a box to choose a box.
How many items should I put into a box?
Put as much as you can in a box. About 10 to 15 Children's items will fit so it ends up being about $1 per item you receive (consignment shops are generally around $5+ dollars per item). Anticipate 5-6 items for Maternity clothing; thats about $6 per outfit!
Where and how do I get the boxes?
If you wish to pick up your own boxes go to the Post Office and ask for a medium size flat rate box for Kids and large size flat rate box for Maternity. They come in 2 shapes (the same amount of clothes will fit in either one) - we suggest using the "Cube" style. The first batch of boxes are automatically sent to you when you become a member.
Can I see what is in the box that I pick?
Only premium member can see photos of the box contents. However, photo uploads are optional at this time. But they are strongly recommended.
Try to upload 1-2 pictures of the contents of your boxes. This will help get your boxes selected by other members as well.
What happens when I "pick" a box?
When you choose a box you pay the shipping (Kids: $13.95 for a premium account or $14.95 for a free account; Maternity: $17.95 for premium account or $18.95 for a free account). A shipping label will automatically be created by us and emailed to the shipper.
You will be able to track that box with the tracking number that appears on the "my account" area when you are logged onto the Outgrowing in site.
Once shipped the box will take an average of 5-7 days to be shipped to your house.
How will I know when one of my boxes is chosen?
We will notify you via email and in your "my account" area, when someone has chosen one of your boxes. All info about shipping, receiving and tracking your box is located here in the "my account" area of the site.
After listing your box you will get a box number. Make sure you note that number on the box some where. This is how you will know which box another OutGrowingIn family has picked.
When your box is chosen we will email you the shipping labels. You just have to tape it to the box. We recommend clear packing tape to keep the label from getting ruined during shipping.
We will also notify you of a chosen box in your "My Account" area of the site. You will also see a "track a box" link.
How do I get more box picks?
Its so easy to earn additional box picks on Out Growing In! These are subject to change based on the number of boxes on web site.

- Another member picks your box; you get to pick a box!
- Participate in Idea Swap, you'll earn a pick randomly!
- OutGrowingIn will also randomly award extra box picks to those who list extraordinary boxes on the site.
What is a premium listing?
A Premium Listing is one that we have posted that contains NEW clothes!!! So keep a look out! The value of the contents of the box will always exceed your shipping cost by at least double (or more). We are going to list a box of play clothes all the way up to designer outfits. Premium listings look noticeably different than regular listings. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE AVAILABLE PICK TO BE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE BOX. However, you must have at least one box listed on the site.
What does the cost of the box cover?
The cost of shipping covers: the shipping cost itself, site development/maintenance and a limited marketing budget. To keep our (and your) costs low - tell your friends, family about us! Use Twitter and Facebook to spread the word! We want to get as many people swapping as possible!
How do you ensure quality of items in the boxes?
How do we ensure quality? All members will be rated by each other. If a box of clothes is exceptionally poor, please contact us and we will work with you to rectify the problem immediately.
Also by encouraging people to provide a picture so you can see the items that are being listed.
